This is a photograph by Gregory Crewdson, the compositions are always set up including the use of models, vehicles and lighting etc. It is the use of artificial lighting in a seemingly natural environment. The idea of total control even down to the set up of a perceived normal and natural environment is fairly disturbing. This could be linked to what NOVUS land would feel like. Not a world like the one within 1984 but a controlled environment to suite every ones need.

ReplyDeletei had that thought in mind. However it is a metaphor for control which we allude to in our animation. Turning a light on and off, what people will and wont see.
